Reviews of the Home Improvement Feud for ThoughtLittle Bradley comes home with a new girlfriend...er, girl who also happens to be a friend, named Ashley. They walk right through the door, holding hands, and aim to study together up in his room. Jill makes them leave the door open, and then she receives a phone call. Her high school is having a reunion.... yeah, it's gonna be a high school reunion episode. Stand by for clichés. Apparently Jill had an old rival named Joanie Graham and they were both attracted to the same guy, you know the story. It practically ruined her senior year and Jill just knows that if she attends the reunion in D.C., it will reignite not-so-fond memories. But she wants to go anyway, because she's a masochist. At least she's forcing Tim to go to liven things up, and if things get really bad, she can take it out on him just like always. At least they managed to find a gullible sap to watch the boys for two days. Al was happy to do it. So, Tim and Jill arrive at their boring hotel in the boring nation's capitol, and instantly, Jill runs into Joanie. Despite everything NOT being fine, Jill says that it is, and then she wants Tim to be supportive, but tells him to shut up. She waffles so much somebody ought to stick her in a toaster.
Tim tries to tell her to just let it go, forgive and forget. He says it's possible for people to change in 20 years. Such as, when he was in high school, he used to be really obnoxious. He's much better now. He goes on to suggest that the guy Joanie stole, Jack, is probably some overweight balding slob now. However, he's the opposite of that picture, when he just happens to walk by them. Things quickly get awkward. Meanwhile, at home, Al really has his work cut out for him. First, he forces Brad and Ashley downstairs because the bedroom door had "mysteriously" blown shut, then he forbids Randy from eating cookies before dinner, then he has to give a pep talk to Mark who's going to a birthday party at an ice skating rink. Worse yet, he has to keep Randy from going outside because he still has a touch of bronchitis, but the little snot goes into the backyard anyway. Al chases him out there...rookie mistake. Those little brats lock him out. Thank goodness Wilson was home and could give Al an extra set of keys. He even gives Al a pep talk on the ups and downs of parenthood when the flannel man starts to reconsider ever having kids. After all, if he can handle Tim, surely he can handle a smaller version of him. Back in D.C., it was time for the reunion. Tim even brought his special suit-in-a-bag just for the occasion, which looks as though he slept in it. The evenings kicks off with the microphone going on the blink, and Jack has to ask Tim to help him, giving Jill and Joanie a chance to talk. It turns out Joanie was pregnant when she graduated. She and Jack couldn't wait, I guess, nor did they figure something like that could happen. Regardless of their past feud, Jill says she would've been there for Joanie, and she still says she's her best friend. So now, a 20-year-old grudge has finally ended, and to celebrate, Tim shorts out the sound system and starts a fire.
Another typical sitcom high school reunion episode, though I have to say this one wasn't so bad. At least Joanie wasn't Tim's old girlfriend looking to rekindle an old flame, or at least Jack didn't want to rekindle an old flame with Jill. Thankfully the only flames at the reunion were caused by Tim. As for Al and babysitting the Taylor brats, thankfully it goes much better for him in later episodes. I believe this was his first time doing it. This was also the first appearance of Brad's new girlfriend, Ashley. I have to say she's the best looking out of all 3 girlfriends he's had. She's not stuck-up like Jennifer, and she isn't a motor-mouth valley girl like Angela. So if you dislike high school reunion episodes, you might want to skip this one as it won't do much for you, but I'd recommend seeing this episode regardless. It has a few funny moments, mostly from Tim, and that moment where Joanie tells Jill she got pregnant in high school...it suddenly gets very quiet. That is a harsh reality a lot of people had to face, and continue to do so. Check out Feud for Thought, not one of the series' best, but it's still entertaining.
